If you still have a chattering clutch, you may very well have a worn out pilot bearing. That happened to me about 30 years ago; only when taking off in 1st gear. I'll never forget it. It was tricky getting the old one out but it was the correct fix.
Question on that, if it came out in 63 why wasn't it put in the supplemental manual?
More than likely, there's more than just one addition of the 1963 supplement.
I would assume that the first edition was printed prior to September 1962, since the 1963 trucks were introduced in September 1962.
I wasn't aware that Budd produced bodies for FoMoCo. For many years, Ford used Briggs bodies.
Some Murray bodies were used on 1928/31 Model A fordor sedans, but Briggs bodies were also used on these cars. AFAIK, all other Model A bodies were Briggs as were all other Ford bodies thru at least 1948.
Jon Tjaarda was Briggs chief stylist, designed the unit body L'Atlantique (aka Sterkenburg) that became (with changes to the front end styling and engine placement), the 1936 Lincoln Zephyr.
The L'Atlantique also spawned the Czech Tatra, the der Fuehrer/Ferry Porsche "peoples car" was based off the Tatra.

I would have loved that, but the bearing was perfect. Put a new one in anyhow with no change.
I would check carefully for vacuum leaks as well. The carb throttle shafts wear and cause idle/low speed problems.
Also your distributor is a loadamatic, or completely vacuum controlled......a real POS imo. There are a few threads here and around the net on other dist options.....
I would also check the compression just to make sure you don't have one weak cylinder causing a miss under load.
I added a few degrees, and it certainly helped. I will add a few more and see if it wants to ping at all. Very hard to see the marks on this balancer as they are kind of rusted over. No doubt the extra timing added power too. Much easier cruising down the road.
Thanks!
