MAF conversion.

MAF conversion.
Hey guys, I would appreciate some of your opinions and insight. I'm getting ready to do the MAF conversion on the 94 and I have run across a couple interesting things. I have 2 different computers, 1 is a 1994 HOG0/SMD-221 from a 94 MAF 5.0. This would be the easiest to swap in. The other is a 1995 FLY1/SMD-272 from a 1995 California MAF 5.8. The Cali 5.8 has a DPFE sensor and a different EGR and EGR Tube. I can get the tube and other parts, so that's not too big of a deal if the gains would be worth it. I had a 95 MAF Ex-Police Bronco 5.8 that was a Monster (didn't know what I had til it was gone). I guess my question is...... Would you guys take the EASY route, or the road less traveled. ANY experience and insight would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks. Oh an old user on here by the handle "Monkie" has gone through this, but he hasn't been on since 2012.

Trust me I've done the reading. Ohhhhhhh have I done the reading and the searching and more reading. I have the harness from a truck and more parts than I can store, lol. What I would like is the real take from guys that have done it. I'm completely rewiring, and repining, not saying an overlay is bad by any means, I'm just an **** SOB when it comes to stuff like this. What would be great would be someone who has a truck with DPFE or has any experience with them on 5.8 to see if that route is worth taking or if I'm just pissing in the wind. How's your truck running Puddy? Funny part about your link.... It's one that I actually posted in LOL. Thanks though.

Yea, I've got the Cali one but it requires a different egr, egr tube and a DPFE (differential pressure feedback ) sensor. Its one of those Cali only things, and I don't wanna spend $200.00 for sensor, hoses, egr, and tube to find out it was a ****ty, troublesome set-up compared to the EVR set-up.

One of the guys over on FSB.COM converted to MAF using the same Cali. PCM as you propose. He was using a tuner so he was able to set the EGR feedback to EVP/position - based. I do not see any advantage from one to the other. If you already have an EVP based engine stick with it IMHO.
