Sorry if this is a much talked about subject, i did some searching but it mainly just confused me, lots of talk about mustang parts and all that.
Here's my situation, i have a 90 f150 5.0 auto speed density, my nextdoor neighbor has a 94 f250 auto with a maf setup. He told me i could just have anything off that truck i want for free, as he's just going to junk it probably.
So....is it possible to make a maf conversion work by just grabbing stuff off that specific truck? what all would i need to get, and do?
If i got to go around looking for parts from mustangs and all this, then i'm not going to bother as it's just a beater truck really, but if i can grab some free parts off this junk truck and make it work, i'm all for it.
what tranny does yours have and what tranny does his have i am assuming you have an aod if not you have a e40d or c6 if you have the same tranny you will need the computer air filter box maf sensor ALL the engine wiring EVERY BIT OF IT and the intake tubing Conaski can you fill in anything i have left off
Yeah, the only real reason you'd want MAF is for big engine modifications.
alright, cool. I wasnt planning on doing any real hot rodding on it, i got enough trouble dealing with all the stuff i did on my 400. If it's not that much of a gain from stock then i wont bother.
but personally i would go ahead and pull all the parts off the other truck and if you dont use them you can sell them alot of people on this site would buy them
I'd grab the most valuable, easiest to remove items and sell em'.
And you'd be lucky to see a real MPG increase from a MAF swap. In theory, yes...because of the sequenial injection, but in reality there are other factors involved (such as the tune) that will affect the MPG positively or negatively.
You wouldn't know until you tried it under a strict test. And even at that it might not be the same for other vehicles.
