Hey all,
I have a 2006 F-350 6.0 I was driving yesterday and got the wrench light.
I have a bully dog PMT in it and am running stock (no tune).
I just bought the truck with the tuner, cold air intake, and 5" exhaust. I hooked up the tuner and checked DTC's. I got a P0487 (EGR Throttle Position control circuit) and a P1000 OBD 2 Monitor Testing incomplete.
I am wondering what these mean. I cant find a description on them other than what I have provided. Is this a major thing.
Also I was pulling my fifth wheel with atv trailer behind it (about 12,500 lbs) up a grade today. It was doing great but all of a sudden it beeped and said engine temp High, I looked at the temp gauge and watched it go from normal to hot in a split second. I pulled over and popped the hood (truck still running) the coolant was not boiling and the truck did not seem excessively hot. within about 10 seconds the temp gauge returned to normal and I continued my drive home without a problem. any ideas what could cause this? I am new to the 6.0. I have had a 96 F-350 with a 7.3 for 7 years now and never had anything like this happen to it. Thanks in advance for the help.
P0487: EGR actuator circuit check. open circuit, short to ground, and short to power.
Plug the EGR valve back in and the engine fan will begin operating as it should. Or the wiring harness is chafed, also causing the engine fan to operate incorrectly.
Ok here is an update sort of. I restored the truck to stock and disconnected the programmer. By doing this I got a check engine light. I thjnk this truck has had an egr delete done thus throwing the CEL. If im thinking right the programmer will turn off the EGR sensor right? So my main concern right now is the wrench light with P0487 code. EGR TP circuit something. What do I need to look at there?
Yea the SCT will turn off the egr even with the canned tunes. You may just want to make sure the check engine light is for the egr and wether or you really have an egr delete or not. Also do you have an egr valve and if so is it plugged in and clean?
