Anybody Have Any Experience With Treadwright Tires?

I'm looking for tires for my 89 F250 extended cab. It has some old road tires and I am looking to go to more of an All-Terrain. Its got 235/85/16 on it now and I'm thinking of going to 265/75/16. Can anyone explain any major differences?

Obviously i would love to put brand new BFG ATs on it but i cannot afford them. I have also looked at the General Grabber AT2 which are much cheaper. I know General makes great tires so thats a possibility.

I am just wondering if anybody has any experience with Treadwright remolded tires? They seem to be pretty good quality. I dont do alot of hard wheeling but do go out in the woods to hunt and fish. But the truck is primarily a secondary driver/hauler.

Thanks for any advise. And if anybody has any pics that would be great

I haven't had them on a heavy vehicle, but a few years back I had the mud terrains on a jeep cherokee. Put 5,000 miles on them before I sold the jeep. No problems.

check with your state DOT. in a lot of states it is illegal to run retread tires on the steering axle.

treadwrights tires are DOT approved, since they're not recaps.

i have the Guard Dogs under the truck in my sig. granted its a HEAVY truck, but they aren't wearing well and are noisey as hell (more so than the BFG muds and MTZ's i've run in the past). also the outer sidewalls are badly weatherchecked (tread and inner walls are good).

i would totally run them on a weekend trail rig, but probably not under a heavy DD again.

Federal law prohibits using retreads on the front axle on passenger busses… no restrictions on other vehicles.

Using 'remolded' tires is common in Canada on commercial vehicles with some success. Your local Bandag, Michelin or Oncor retreading shop can usually retread your 16" casings with your choice of tread designs. The last time I had light truck tires retreaded the cost was about $60.00 per tire.
