Hey guys, I'm curious if anyone has ever fit in or designed or something like that a jump seat similar to what you would find in a Ranger for the back of a 90's F-150 Supercab?
What I'm thinking of is removing the bench seat and installing a jump seat so I still have room for a fourth passenger and then open up the rest of the cab for speakers/storage etc.
Earlier X-cab trucks had fold-up jump seats, so you should be able to scavenge some and almost bolt them in. You may need to add reinforcements under the floor for the nuts, but that's pretty easy.
I dont' know the specific years for that style of X-cab seat - just shop the junkyards. They fold up to the sides, though. You'd have to modify their mounts slightly to put them against the back wall.
Some X-cabs have a fold-up bench, though. Check other brands of truck and see what you can finnagle.
Cowtown, where are you located? Sounds like we need to swap!
I have a '90 XLT Lariat with jump seats in the ext. cab. I *think* I'd rather have the bench seat to get the kids' seats a little away from the side of the cab. Of course as it is, they both have something to look at (each other) while we're riding, and they can see out the front and the back......
Back to the issue at hand; The factory jump seats mount to the floor of the cab, and fold up to the sides if needed, allowing for gobs of open space.
I believe that up until 1991 you could have either jump seats or bench in the rear of a SUPERCAB, I know for a fact that 1975-79 SUPERCABS are prepped from the factory with mounting bolt holes Threaded and all, so I would suggest looking at/for a '87-'91 SUPERCAB to get the JUMP SEATS you want,or go ahead and trade the other poster for his, and IF you end up removing your bench seat and having it extra by all means put it with all its hardware and seatbelts up for sale in the classifieds.
as long as both trucks are soper cabs it should be a fit you may haveto come up with some brackets . But Cowtown have you thought about lifting the rear seat so that you can put suuff under it . I have a http://www.lmiwelding.com/ seat lift set on mine and it gives me about 6 or 7 inches of clearance .
Steve, why did you say "His Crew cab"? You lost me on that one. Isn't the supercab and x-cab the same thing. Some people call it one, some call it the other. I looked at his gallery, just looks like and X to me... Just asking.
Also, just for info, I lifted my rear bench seat with home made brakets and was able to build a box that holds two 10's and and amp between them. If you go with the jump seats, just don't forget rear seat passengers legs have to go somewhere. Just my 2c's, good luck...Hippie.
I thought he meant crew cab when he said "super". I didn't look in his gallery, but he said it was a fullsize bench, so I assumed it was a 4-door. Now that I've looked, I still can't tell. The pics are too dark.
I use "crew cab" for a 4-door & "X-cab" for a super because the VIN code for them is X (i.e., 1FMGX34H7...).
A great question. It is a 2 door Super Cab (or extended cab as some call it). I have considered the seat lift but was just toying with the idea of doing something a bit different. I could probably get away without a rear seat altoghether to be honest.
I was planning on getting some new pictures up but two days after I washed it all up all purty like I took it to the dump and now it's filty muddy and what not. Guess I'll have to try again this week.

Ding! Ding! Ding!
I thought that was the case, but I've been reading around here long enough to know that steve83 knows his stuff, and I wasn't going to question it......at least not out loud.
