My F350 4x4 7.3 n/a has 2 leaf springs in the front but the spring retainers look like they are made to hold more. NPD list 4 spring packs and one 2 spring pack for the 94 F350
My 93 7.3 brackets look the same, as if they could hold more. I don't think it's because there is actually supposed to be more leafs just the bracket they use.
Others on here will have a better deffinate answer.
Basically all the front springs came with 2 lvs. Sometimes it was a 2 lvs with a pad on the bottom, some even 2 lvs with 2 pads. Your spring code indicates that it is a 2 lv, full taper with a pad.
Are you referring to the spring clips when you say retainers?
There is a good chance that Ford made that clip a little raised because they didn't want there to be metal to metal contact, so basically no squeaking when the vehicle was moving.
Hard to give you a definite yes or no on that. How do they look visually? When you're driving do you experience any thumps when breaking or accelerating?

I drove over some rough rodes today and there were some big thumps from the back like something was loose and banging. I do not hear any thumps on braking or acceleration but it does field like the axle is "winding up". Sort like an old hot rod in need of traction bars. On initial acceleration the tires grab and brake loose (but not spinning).
I looked at all the rear spring bushings and could not see any. The shackles covered them completely or they are missing. The bolts are centered in the spring eyes so I do not think the are completely gone. The front bushing are visibly cracked but not real bad. I am not sure if this any indication of the condition of the rear bushings.
How big and expensive of a job is replacing the bushings? The rear suspension is pretty simple so I am not sure what else it could be.

replaceing bushings is pretty straight forward, youll have to drop the axle out, which almost always requires cutting the u bolts off, then youll have to pull the springs and shackles, remove the old bushings and install the new ones. might as well do shocks while your there. however that being said...its usually a major pita to get everything apart, and get the old bushings out, usually the spring bolts are seized in the sleeves and you have to cut them. I always just replace the shackles.
