ding ding ding ding when driver's door is open
2003 Navigator..bought used.
It dings when the door is open, as if light is on...or key is in?
It had a bad lock cylinder that prevented the key to come out..so I replaced it.
Is there anyway to reliably tell what's causing this? or is this.........normal?

Thank you. Any insights on what to look for? I don't mind taking it apart again to get rid of this!

You should remove the lower steering column shroud as well as the ignition lock. This way you can do a good inspection to see what is wrong. I had this very issue when I bought my first expedition years and years ago. I don't remember exactly what I did, but it was definitely something to do with the key contacts.
