I have read through quite a few threads on here and it seems most people on this forum are into redoing their trucks back to stock. That is not my preference at all...in fact unless the vehicle (whether 61-66 F100 or something else) is super rare, I will hack it up to my liking 100% of the time! I want to drive my cars, and by drive I mean any day, any where, any distance AND enjoy every bit of the drive! That is how I build customer cars and that is how I built my shop truck and man I love it! Its so smooth, it stops amazing, has the turning radius of a car, handles like no truck I have ever driven, has the reliability of a brand new vehicle, yet it looks like a cool old truck (at least I think so).
So the question is; which do you prefer, stock or modified? And if so, why? If you like to modify only a few things, what aspects of the vehicle do you prefer modified or prefer stock and why?
I like the idea of a modern drivetrain in a older vehicle. I have enjoyed seeing the progress on your shop truck. That having been said, my truck is mostly stock, and I will probably keep it that way. I would like to drop in sometime, and see your work in person.
I like them modified but subtle modifications. I can appreciate the highly modified vehicles but I prefer subtle. I do like the modern drivetrain in these vehicles. I put a 4.6L DOHC from a Lincoln Mark VIII in mine which is a little bit more than subtle but I like it.
I HAVE A 62 , BONE STOCK AND WILL STAY THAT WAY , A 65 CONVERTED TO POWER DISC BRAKES , STEERING , A/C , CAM,HEADERS , INTAKE AND OTHER ENGINE MODS , BUT STILL STOCK IN APPEARANCE.

Another chico resident, sweet! Stop by anytime, my shop is out past gasoline alley. Turn in where CbarD feed and Big foot carpet is and I'm the 2nd from the end on LH side. Right next to MP's, who is known for the big huge old school broncos. Or yell at me when you see me cruising around town in the truck.
I have a 66 and I drive it every day to work and any where else I want it has a semi stock look out side but I have change the motor to a 390 with headers and a newer c-6 tranny and front disc brakes and 31 inch tires

I am with you. Mine has a 2v 4.6 in it, but I made it slightly less conspicuous by putting a dummy carb on top. But people write it off because it looks like crap on the outside. The only thing that really gives it away is the big 4 wheel disk brakes and the super long lower links that hang down slightly for the rear suspension. Other than that, its hard to notice it is so heavily modified.
In my opinion everything is in the details. This is really the aspect that I can appreciate with a totally stock build. The details are extremely important, the difference for me is that I want to decide what those details are, and I want those details to have a purpose. Not necessarily just to put something back exactly like someone else designed a million of them to be 50 years ago.
