Hi there, I have a few questions about my 2002 Ford F-250 7.3 A/C clutch. I know a little bit about A/C systems but this one is weird, when I turn the A/C on I ALWAYS have both positive and ground on the harness that goes to the A/C pump so I know it should stay engaged but it wont, I already took the harness apart thinking the wires were corroded but that is not the issue. The A/C system will sometimes run fine for 20 min or so then goes off, it acts like something is dirty like contacts or something so my question is can the clutch coil be cleaned or something or is it just toast? should I buy just a coil if it is or should I buy the entire clutch kit? thanks
Thank you ProjectSHO89 That is a good read, however I just about knew to check for all these things. I may however check my clutch gap or try pulling a shim, I had my buddy watch the clutch at work to see if it would move at all with the ACC on while I was flipping my A/C switch on and off and he said he didn't see it move at all then when I started the truck it engaged, I know it is suppose to move without the engine running. I drove home from work and the A/C ran perfectly for about 15 minutes then the clutch let go and it started blowing warm air again. When a clutch is worn will it sometimes give up and quit after it has already been working for awhile? I figure once it is engaged it would stay engaged unless it started to slip and I don't think that is what is going on, my guess would be the clutch coil is malfunctioning getting hot or whatever. Thanks
