One improvement I want to do to my 49. The big question I have is that I see everyone welding in the plate. Did anyone weld in and use the stock handles? I think I will have to bolt mine on as I want to keep the outside door handles
Post 11 photo shows my 40 with stock handles and my 56 F100 also has stock outer handles. I am told that if you use the stock inner handles you lose the lock function...may be why so many owners chose to go with electric latching locks.
You can use both inside and outside handles but like Charlie stated the locking function of the inside handle is lost. Why I put in the electric power lock kit in my pickup
