Need to buy gas tank valve

Hey all, I need to buy the valve that changes tanks from front to rear. I have an 87 F250 4x4 auto with the 460.

It has a MECHANICAL fuel pump bolted on the block. I have never heard electric pumps in the tanks and there is no inertia switch to shut them off since it doesnt have them.
It looks like this but is black:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/FUEL-TANK-SELECTOR-VALVE-1987-2011-F250-F350-F450-F550-BRAND-NEW-/151252722458?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item23375d631a&vxp=mtr
I remember someone mentioning Ford parts were for sale through a vendor but I couldnt find him, mostly because Im new to the site. I am mostly concerned with getting the RIGHT valve, then a good price.
Can someone please tell me who it is I can contact? Thanks in advance.

Fuel tank valve

The pictured valve is for diesels but it looks exactly the same, minus the color.

FTE Ford Dealer Parts Dept sponsors give members online parts discounts off the actual MSRP / Some dealers jack the MSRP up, then give a discount...usually you end up paying more than MSRP!

Closest sponsor to OR: horizonpartsguy.com / Horizon Ford Truck Center, Seattle (Tukwila) WA

There are two different types of these 6 port (gas) fuel tank selector valves. There will be an ID number marked on it, post what it is.

ID number could be E57B-9F271-BA or E67B-9F271-AA / E9TB-9F271-AA

Since day one, these valves have been a notorious POS! Are infamous for failing.

The valve you need is made by Pollak. They made the valves for Ford, but like everything else it was somewhat custom, with different fuel line fittings and a different wiring plug. If you do not mind spending all that money on the Ford valve, it will slip right in place. If you do not want to spend all that money and don't mind making the fuel lines fit, doing a little bit of wiring, and possibly have to re-orient the valve on the frame, you can use the ones in the link above or the one they sell at Autozone. It works and functions exactly the same, but it needs some modification to make it work.

Hey Number,

Do you think all of those parts that were replaced by the new part number would be the same? I mean, did Ford make different hose nozzles for the valve meant for diesel compared to the one made for the 460.

And the one for the 302 would have different nozles and wire connections than the 351 etc.? Or do all those part numbers work exactly the same?

I dont know if Ford would have sold adapters with the new valve to make it work universally or not.

This whole thing is crazy, why in the heck didnt they just use one valve....I know, because they're Ford.

460 works the same as Diesel.
I don't know if the lines and seals are the same for diesel to gas.
Ford used different valves on different trucks for the same reason you won't find 16" 8 lug wheels with 235/85R16 E rated tires on a 302 F150.
The Windsor trucks all had electric in tank pumps. (NOT the same valve)

If you want a universal 6 port valve with fittings that would take "universal" fuel line, here it is: http://www.ebay.com/itm/6-Port-Fuel-Dual-Tank-Selector-Kit-42-302-128-VALVE-HARNESS-Gas-Diesel-/161113261973?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2583194795&vxp=mtr
You will need to splice their wire connector into your truck.
There are MANY threads on this in the diesel forums.

Be aware that supply and return lines are not the same size.
(3/8" & 5/16")

If you go the universal route, I used the universal valve. If you use some sort of lubricant and some elbow grease and if you're careful you can push the nylon fuel lines over the barbs on the valve and use a hose clamp. I did that and it worked well. However, I have the 3 port metal/plastic valve.
