Are the "fleet side" boxes off of a 63 f100 the same as the 57-60 trucks? Some pictures I see, the box looks completely different and some look the same. I have a 59 stepside and want to switch to the "fleet side.

Styleside = Ford / Fleetside = Chevrolet/GMC / Flareside = Ford / Stepside = Chevrolet/GMC.

Pic at left: 1961/63 F100/250 2WD Uni aka unit-body aka integral body: Styleside beds welded to the cab.
Pic at right (lower): 1957/60 Styleside beds installed on the following 1961/66's. Called the "wrong" beds, because the bed lines do not match the cab lines.
1961/65 F100/250 4WD - 1961/66 F350 (9' Express) - 1962/63 F100/250 2WD - 1966 F250 4WD

Ok thanks for the info and the welcome. next question is what is a box in decent shape worth? I found a 63 with a "wrong" box on CL. in the pictures the box looks good except for the back under the tail lights. The rest of the truck looks trashed almost like the box was off the truck for awhile???

Supposedly, the bed extensions (panels where tail lights are located) have been reproduced, but by whom, I cannot recall.

I've seen "wrong bed" trucks. Look like a hodgepodge of parts mixed together. Just my opinion. Logic says these would be worth more money cause they should be rare.
This looks like a decent bed. Kinda pricy.

The gentleman I bought my '59 from also had a 60 which had a bed from a '63. Per my conversation with him, the mounting holes on the 62-66 bed are in a different location, otherwise the beds are the same
I'm not sure where this "wrong bed" stuff is from. Simply put, Ford was pushing the new integrated bed in the 61-63 model years, with a flareside bed as an option for those that didn't want the integrated bed. When the integrated bed didn't meet the customer expectations for durability in severe applications, Ford, in 1962, reached into the parts bin and pulled the (already tooled) '57-60 bed out as a functional alternative until the so called "correct" bed was released in 1964 and the integrated bed pickup option was cancelled.
The "wrong bed" soldiered on in low volume 4X4 applications (different cab / axle dimension) for a few more years.
Economics, son. Simple economics.
They were quite common, and never called "wrong" when I was a kid in the 60's.

"Wrong" makes sense, since the bed lines don't match the cab lines. 1961/66 F350: The only Styleside bed available: "Wrong" 9' Express.
1964/66 F100/250 2WD & 1966 F100 4WD used different Styleside beds, that some people call the "correct" beds. But, "correct" is a misnomer, since these beds weren't available 1961/63.

Bill: Am I correct in believing that the only "wrong bed" 61 Fords were the 4X4's? The "wrong" bed wasn't reintroduced on the 4X2's until 1962.
I think I read that somewhere and my memory from when I was 10 and 11 years old isn't perfect!
