60 truck 66 bed?

When I bought my 1960 F-100 the seller said that he thought that the bed was off of a 1966, the lines flow exactly, is there a way to tell what year the bed is from. I am away from internet (Gads!!!) on Thur. 12/2/04 so if I do not answer right away that is why.

Some 66 4x4's used a 57-60 box because of the wheelbase. Also separate cab 61-63 F-100 F-250 used a 57-60 box since the bed was attached to the cab on the normal F-100. In '64 ford went back to the separate box and made a box that matched the front end.

Rodney,
51dueller is right on. If you are still confused...................

Ford produced the uni-body (integral bed & cab) from 1961 thru 1963 for 2wd trucks only.
"Seperate cab & bed" version 2wd trucks were also available for these years (1961-63) to those who did not want a uni-body. The 1957-60 style bed was used on these trucks, and also 4wd trucks.

Here's a list of what the 1957-60 style 8' beds were available on.....

1957-60 F-100 & F-250 (of course)
1961-63 non-unibody trucks & 4x4's
1964 F-100 & F-250 4x4's
1965 F-100 & F-250 4x4's
1966 F-100 4x4's (with 115" wb only), F-250 4x4's

Since your truck is a '60, it was only available in "seperate cab and bed" version.
It is possible that your bed was replaced by the seller with a bed from 1966 4x4, or any of the other trucks listed above. It would indeed match your truck perfectly because both trucks used the 1957-60 style bed.

I don't believe there is a way to identify the "exact" year of the 1957-60 style bed by looking at it. I don't think they were stamped with any numbers.

I hope this helps.

The 57 to 60 style bed would have the circle tail light the 66 2wd truck bed would have more of a rectangle look.

Thanks to everybody, the tail lights are indeed round and snooping around with a trouble light Wed. night I found some spots with the original Carribean Turquoise (which by the way is the ugliest green I have ever seen) on it, I believe the seller did not know what he was talking about.
