T5 Conversion

I've become a FTE member to learn from those with experience. I inherited a 1972 Sport Custom from my father and plan on keeping it in the family. I recently replaced the three on the tree with a T5. Not a bad job. Everything fit right into place. The problem I'm having is finding a clutch cable to convert from the original rod set up. I bought a conversion kit for a 70's model Cougar, but it broke in less than 3 months. The kit was pricey and came with hardware I didn't need. I just need the cable. Any suggestions?

Welcome to FTE.

Why did it break? Interference, wrong angle, poor quality, poor fittings?

Cable is available from a variety of sources such as hardware stores and aircraft suppliers:

Aircraft Cable Assemblies - RiggingWarehouse.com

Aircraft stuff would be my choice. Them airplane fellers are real particular about cable, and the FAA carries a big stick if your parts fail. You may have to adapt or make your own fittings etc, but all the stuff is available.

Back to failure analysis--no cable will last if there is interference or if the angles are wrong, so correct any problems and protect the cable when you do this repair.

You've probably been through all this, but this outfit sells the kits and there may be serving suggestions here:

Thanks a bunch for the cable info. I'll figure it out. I was kinda hopin' that somebody might know of a cable from some other vehicle that would work perfectly for my conversion. I'll let you know what I come up with.
