I am considering rebuilding the leaf springs on my 96 f350 dually. I am always hauling a load and the back end sits low. I am going to get a goose neck trailer and the springs need attention first. My question; Is rebuilding the springs going to hold up or will they just crap out after a few heavy hauls?
Rebuilding as in replacing?
If you are putting in new springs I would imagine they won't crap out after a few heavy hauls. Unless you are loading them way over their load capacity.
Are you thinking about just adding leafs to your existing leaf packs? If you are looking to add leafs to worn out springs you may find that it is not going to give you the added weight capacity you are looking for. AAL's are great but in my eyes it only acts as a short term band-aid when you add them to worn out leaf springs. It will help out the situation for a little while but you're not truly fixing the issue.
You won't have any issues what so ever if you go with new springs, if you go that route you can even go with a heavier duty version if you think the stock setup won't be enough when hauling.
I have thought about doing the same thing. My question is what springs do we use? I have looked and have seen more than 4 different codes and don't know which one.

There will be a sticker in the driver side door jam. On the bottom right hand corner of that sticker it will say SPR. Directly under that it will have a few letters and/or numbers. That will be the spring code for your vehicle, it basically tells me what is on your vehicle (as long as everything is stock).
From there you can determine which spring you would want if you want a direct replacement or something more Heavy Duty.
if I go HD will I get bucked out of the truck? Junior I see your ad so sell me something
If you go the HD route you will see a difference in the ride quality, things will stiffen up. But the capacity will be there so it's kind of a give and take. I will message you some pricing and details with some springs we can offer you.

70T351W, I'm likely little help with the spring selection you are looking for, but I can tell you Junior answered at least 6 private messages over the last 3 months of me asking questions. And I am very happy with the springs I bought and the speed at which they arrived. I do wish I was closer so freight was less but for what I was charged I likely would not have delivered them from Denton (where I live) to Azle! Watching the UPS guy lugging each one up the driveway was worth half the price of freight alone. Let me know if I can help with the install. Some notes are at the end of my build thread linked below.

As Brad suggests, good leaf springs for the routine ride, air bags for the heavy loads. Also seems to be a popular combination with the hotshot and RV people.
