I've been thinking of doing the same. My lights are dim and fogged, makes it hard to see on dark, rainy nights.
Not meaning to derail this but while looking at headlights on ProTuningLab, the lights look exactly like those from CP trucks. Not only smoked but the "black" and "clear" ? Anyone know what's up?
I have no idea, none of them seem to give a brand, hard to tell if theyre better or just marked up. Think i decided on the "black" ones from tuner lab. Then if the halogens give me problems, ill go LED
HIDs in a reflector not meant for them is a nuisance to other drivers, and has little actual improvement, some good +30 halogen bulbs (clear, no tint) , a good relay harness, and clean headlight lenses( restored or new) will give exceptional results. I was considering projectors and hids for mine, but with those three things changed, my headlight now meet my expectations. Look up Daniel Stern lighting If you want some more information.
Well this is getting irksome... been trying to get ahold of protunerlab for 3-4 days now and nothing back... Might end up paying more through the other place linked here just to get them.
I have had HID on several of my cars. I found the quality of the lens is more important than the wattage of the bulb. Good lenses will put the light where you need it and keep it out of oncoming drivers eyes.
If you want to do HID's right you'll need to cough up the extra dough for some retro projectors. It's about the only way to get the quality you want out of your HID's.
If you go this route, you'll have to spend the time and effort to get the projectors to fit the headlight housing. Heres the link to the guy who's done it.
