No Worries , are you sure the cap is OEM and not Aftermarket? the OEM is shorter than AM. ICP ( Injector control Pressure) late built 04 will be on the passenger side valve cover early built 04/03 is under the Turbo with the (IPR) in the IPR will be a screen if out or ripped is not good and needs to be fixed. this is why we Monitor with Gauges IE-Scan Gauge, dash boss, etc , Don't go too long, If the ICP values are wack then the Connection could be at fault ( oily or shorting out ) will make your truck stall buck and surge with high and low RPMs.
Hello, Im new to the powerstroke world and im needing some help, I just bought a 2004 Excursion and let me start off by saying I dont drive it much, but it sat for about 5-7 days last week and when I went to start it, it gave me fits, first off it took probaly 10 crank cycles to get it to start, it would fire for a split second and die, once it did start it chugged and puffed black smoke for about 30 seconds and started to run fine. any info would be great, also at time at idle is show no oil pressure but runs fine as soon as it gets over 900 rpms it goes right back up
Try parking nose down overnight and see if it starts better. The reason being if the HPOP has a bad shaft seal it will allow the HPO reservoir to empty causing extended cranking times after sitting for long periods.
Also it sits on flat ground not a hill to park on after searching I think it might have a am cap it is a smooth tall cap I see several with a short hex cap
That my problem then I have a oem motor craft filter with the tall cap. Would that cause hard starts in the am? Not hold oil in the filter?
Yes and no Pressure , gota get the OEM filter and cap. now you can get the filter at walmart Just make sure it has the thicker rubber top and bottom , I'll see if I can pull a number for you
I found that autozone has a special order for a oem cap it appears right would it be safe to get one? There 26 bucks or just get the one from ford, do you know a cost from ford?
Picked up the oem cap from ford this morning 28 buck and a new filter seems to be starting faster taking her to work tonight to see how she does also changes the fuel filter on the engine and it was a mess changing the one on the frame at work
