Turbo

I replaced my turbo. 2003 f250 6.0. Was frozen. Truck starts but still blows smoke. Dose not like higher rpms. Not sure why. Maybe it is what caused the turbo to go bad? Any ideas?

Are you sure oil is coming out of the turbo oil supply line?

If the previous turbo had a blown oil seal, it can take a while for the residue to burn out of the exhaust pipe.

I have not checked to see if there is oil coming through the oil supply line yet.
I've run the engine for more than 10 minutes so it should be feeding now, unless the line is clogged and that is why the turbo froze in the first place. I'm not sure the best way to test that. Maybe remove fuse for fuel pump, turn engine over with oil feed disconnected. See if oil comes out?

If you want to remove a fuse, maybe pull the FICM fuse.

Does the smoke smell of diesel or oil?

Thing is, sometimes partially burned diesel has blue smoke too. We've probably all seen it on some dmax some time.

I've seen it look white (from a bad injector), but I don't think blue. I'll keep a closer eye on the Duramaxes though.
