The PO of my 54 shaved the hood and then painted the truck Lime Green. I've kinda gotten used to the color but want the hood emblem back on. Is there a template available somewhere to help me get it in the right place the first time? Thanks, Ken
I have the same problem. Straight on photos are not very common but I scaled off the one in the link below and got 2-1/4 inches from the bottom of the emblem to the crease of the leading edge of the hood. But the photo is not square with the plane that I'll be measuring and when I looked at my hood that leading edge is not a very precise so I have not drilled any holes. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...k-az-find.html
I had the same problem with my '54. I bought a new re-pop hood from Mid Fifty but no holes anywhere for hood trim. I Bought an old hood ($100) and used my torch to cut the front section for the Ford crest and both sides for the boomerang and F-100 trim. Used shop clamps to hold my ne "pattern" in place. Spray paint over this for perfect alignment. Removed the pattern and drilled out the holes (which are 2 different sizes). Worked like a charm. This may not be an option for you but it worked great for me.. I don't know of any templates available for this. Hope this helps, Steve
I finally googled the Ford hood emblem and got several fairly good front shots of installed emblems. I enlarged the best one to life size and used the printout to give me an idea of height above the crease in the hood lip. Holding the emblem against the hood at that height showed a really close fit to the vertical hood ridge. I marked the posts on the hood and after a prayer, drilled 2 holes. The emblem with the rubber base pad is a near perfect fit - may not be exactly in the stock position, but I'm pleased. DAS54, the lower tip of my emblem ended up 3 3/8" above the crease in the hood but I'm not sure if it matters that much. As long as it is vertical and there are no big gaps around the edges. - Thanks for all the responses and ideas. Ken

Good to know, I will need to use this info when I do mine since mine was also shaved and there are no holes or remains of holes.
I have a 1954 Ford Truck Trim and Body manual. I will check in that when I get home tonight. If it is in there I can scan it and post it for you.
I just checked my 53 and 54 Trim and Body books. Neither of them had a template or a diagram for mounting the hood emblem. They had a diagram with measurements for mounting the overdrive and the Fordamatic emblems, but not front hood emblem.
