HELP.... Please....
I have a 1952 ford F1, 24 bolt heads, "EAC" stamp, 11" clutch,
Is it possible to determine if this is 239 CI or 255 CI without checking bore and stroke??? Thanks for any help...
Also any advice on brake master cylinder, or disk conversions?
Welcome to the forum! The EAC heads were the Mercury 255 version of the Ford EAB. The problem is they will physically interchange so there's no way to tell for sure if you have a Ford or Mercury displacement. You'll have to measure something, somehow, to know for sure. Merc heads have larger combustion chambers than the comparable Ford heads so your compression will be lower if you have EAC heads with a 239 crank. That might be something to check, but it will only tell if everything else is in top condition. For your brake question, pretty much all the resto parts catalog companies will have a kit to add disc brakes, power boosters, dual circuit master cylinders (a highly recommended upgrade) for safety and easier driveability. The cost difference isn't much if you have to replace all of your stock brake components from wear or age deterioration, anyway. It's worth a look.
