So I'm finally done with rebuilding the carb and getting the truck running and registered. However I have a bracket left over. Anyone know/have a pic of where it goes? I seem to recall it being on the studs atop of the driver's side valve cover, possible for the brake booster vacuum line? Or maybe near the driver's side rear of the engine for ?
PS. it might be the bracket that holds the "air injection" check valve. From memory, there is a rubber hose from the air pump to a metal check valve which then goes to a metal tube a crossover tube located at the back of the engine (behind intake manifold) that used to feed air into the heads. The check valve was on the passenger side about middle of valve cover (and at valve cover height) and held by a bracket such as the one you show.
Thanks country, that was exactly it. It will now be known as the Fred bracket.
The plastic valve is called a TIV (on my factory vacuum diagram) aka IVV: Thermactor Idle Vacuum Valve.
For anyone else that might be in my boat, below's a pic of the valve on my truck. The bracket bolts on the outside stud on the passenger valve cover. I'd post a pic of the bracket from the factory parts diagram but the DRM on the parts catalog prevents screen shots (at least with applications that are part of the O/S).
