Another quick question for the community. I installed a universal fuel filter right before the edelbrock carb on my 85 f250. However, I notice after awhile the fuel drains back into the tank because there is an air void in the fuel filter. After cranking it over for a little the void fills and she starts up. Is it necessary for the fuel to drain back into the tank or could I put a one way valve before filter so it stays full? Any help is appreciated
Something easy like this:

I would not worry about the little air void. You should have plenty of fuel inside the carb to run the truck unless you let it sit so long that all the fuel in the carb evaporates.
That makes sense. As far as the truck needing to be cranked over for a couple seconds... would that be more of the choke needing a seasonal adjustment?
If you think it's the choke, give it a couple of pumps before you start cranking and see what happens. You should pump it at least once during a morning cold start.
If a couple of pumps helps it, you might need a little more choke. If the little bit of extra gas doesn't help it, you might need to check the sparkplugs for wear.
