I have spent a very enjoyable weekend spending small amounts of money on Ebay. I have never bought anything from there before, so I was having a blast. I got me a nice cheap vintage synthesizer, a Roland Poly 800, that I missed since selling one nearly 20 years ago. (time flies) I also got me a cheapo Kawai throw away keyboard, because everyone has said for years how horrible it was when it came out, so I will soon know (a 20 dollar experiment) I got a manual for the Synth for 9 bucks, and something else that looked good, for a couple of bucks.
And a CD with 3000 + Styles for my keyboard - that will come in handy.
I can see how this ebay watching could easily become an expensive hobby - there is a Mono Synth out there, that I used to have in another country, another time - actually in 1976 (I used to be in a band). If I had the money, I would have bought the thing on the spot.
In total I have spent 5 hours online here, browsing as usual, in the three days, but I have spent at least 12 hours on ebay, just drooling over all the nice things.
It kind of sucks that a truck identical to my '02, with less miles, sold for Half of what we owe on the thing.
I tried to buy a nice accordion, but lost, because I failed to look in often enough before it closed. Than sucks..... BUT, I have my eye on three other accordions, and they are not getting bids
I never knew there was so much fun stuff on that place. I have to go check on ebay now......
I try to avoid that website myself. I'm afraid I'll spend too much money buying doo-dads I don't need, instead of proper investing or spending money on my truck...
I have bought many parts for my truck rebuild on there. I have also bought a lot of parts for other projects. You have to watch it tho. Some things go for as much or more than you can buy them new, -very strange...
I became interested in ebay when my wife sold
"FOUR AND HALF YEAR OLD USED FLANNEL SHEETS"
If someone will pay 17 bucks for used flannel sheets people will buy ANYTHING! When my wife wasn't working, I had her going to garage sales and buying other peoples junk to sell (after we sold all of ours.) At ONE garage sale we spent 80 bucks and in less than 20 days, turned it into 900+
Ebay is a sellers market. A lot of people, including myself, will sometimes pay more than an item is worth just because you don't want that other SOB getting it! Clean out your garage and put it on ebay!
Theo, we love ya', but I'm afraid we have to tell you that-
there is no such thing as a "nice accordion."
I spend way too much time on e-Bay myself. You do have to watch prices- like the others have said, you can pay more for a Ford part sometimes than what the dealer charges. I always check it against our parts dept. before bidding. BUT- there are some good deals if you look carefully. I buy brand-new dress shoes for work that retail for $150-300; I've paid as little as $10, never more than $60.

People keep telling me that, but for folk not liking accordions, I have managed to make a pittance with one for over 30 years - I've been playing one for over 40 years. I make recordings, and give concerts, as well as providing 'Church' style music at outdoor functions.... The sight of me, in cassok, surplus and stole, with funky hat and an accordion strapped on, playing the music at a wedding I happen to be perfoming is something else..
Small very amusing factoids
1 - Accordions are the most popular instrument on earth, for every one in the western world, Asia has 3 and Eastern Europe has 2, so they are by far the most popular instrument elsewhere. Not bad for a thing most folk won't call an instrument!
2 - The Accordions I play have over 2,000 parts and are engineered, not thrown together
3 - The Accordion is the only instrument recognized as a therapeutic source - Often Accordion music is played to coma victims, and catatonic patients with surprising results (The quip to place here is - Told you nobody likes them.)
4 - Since the age of five, I have worn out over 20 accordions, and never been told to stop playing
There isn't a five, you will be happy to notice..
While cruising the pages of Ebay, I found a link to an Accordion Store, so trundled over to take a look see: I have just arranged to have a rather special musette tuned brute delivered to my door, with 13 treble registers, and 6 bass ones, 41 treble keys, and 120 bass buttons. So I will start to record wave files, and bore the living daylights out of all of you, by posting them here.
I love e-bay. For selling and buying. We sold a few thousand dollars of Saddles and misc. horse related apparel. We got much less for the stuff than we paid for it, but more than we would've got at any other sale.
I bought tons of stuff for my 78 F150 there. Including a $50 gauge set for $14.55. I only buy stuff that I need, and make sure I know the retail price of it ahead of time.
After looking at all the stuff people buy, I'm probably sitting on a fortune with all the spare 460 parts I have. No to mention all the old toys we got out of my grandma's basement when she passed away.
The biggest tips I can give any e-bayer is to READ THE SELLER'S FEEDBACK and ask a LOT of questions. Some of the ads are intentionally misleading, but most sellers will be honest if you ask.
E-BAY!!!! NOS truck parts of all years. It's amazing the things people have in their possession to sell on E-bay. I've been aquiring 'new' parts for my '67 F 250 and my '36 Shivie 1-Ton.
I have ran into a couple o' nutz, but out of over 400 deals with people around the country, or world, I,ve closed tons auctions without being too bid happy.
Living in a town with one understocked K Mart, and a sorry excuse for a lousy Save-on, there is nothing available in this town. Real civilization is 50 miles in every direction! So, I get DVDs, VHS, DCs on E-bay too, there are no music stores here iether. Or is it either.?
I just tried my first buy on there, but messed around and missed the end of the auction on a used ATSG manual for my A4LD. I've found a source for a new one and ordered it this morning. I had a bid of $4.99 on it and it went for $9. The new one's running me 14.99 plus S&H. For about $6 difference, I do believe that I'd rather have a new one anyway and get my own grease spots on it.
