Picked up a used set of ironheads for my 86 F250 460motor. While cleaning, and inspecting them, I noticed most of the exhaust valves are worn concave at the tip. Most of these are just worn enough that you can see and feel a slight depression. However two of them actually had a straight groove worn across them about 1/32" deep. These valves, their guides, and seats, are in great shape otherwise. They lapped in real nice, with a good margin.
Can the tips of the valves be file dressed, back to flat? I do understand that removing too much material will affect my clearances, but is there enough movement in the lifters to accommodate, a 1/32" or less removal? This is a quick and dirty head replacement, on a stock, street driven truck. I really don't want to have to buy a whole new set of valves.
