I got a 1979 f150 that I'm considering parting out. The bed that's on it is off a 73-76? I think and I was wondering what the value of it would be. I got a bed side for the drivers side that is for a 78-79 truck and a bed floor insert for it as we'll. As you can see the floor that is in it Currently is rusted out and the drivers side bed side has a lot of bondo on at the end. The back peace toward the cab would need replaced. Unfortunately don't have that piece. With all that in mind what would be a good asking price?

I bought a 79 bed in VA for $350. Good floor, great tailgate, but, needs wheel arch and rear corner (underneath tail lights) replacement. I know a guy in NY who has been trying for years to get $850 for his that needs rear corners.

To be honest, If I were in your shoes, I would pull all of the trim off, tailgate off, storage compartment, emblems etc...and sell those seperate, then take the bed shell to a scrap yard. Then sell the replacement panel(s) you already have, seperately. The bed itself is in horrible shape and I dont think it would bring you much other than a headache waiting for it to MAYBE sell. I honestly think there is more value sitting there in trim pieces than the entire bed itself.

Thanks for your honesty, I figured it might me worth something others then scrap because these beds are hard to come by and the fact I did have some of the replacement parts to fix it.

I hear ya, And Im not saying Im right either, just my take on it The floor is shot, so if you dont want to scrap it I would recommend taking it apart, getting rid of the floor and selling the bedsides and everything else....The rusted through floor is going to turn a lot of people, looking for an intact bed, away. So I would target the replacement panel market if it were me. it also makes it easier to sell and possibly ship parts as opposed to an entire bed...so that would potentially open up the possibilities outside of local sale/pick up.

I would think that passenger side bed side would potentially be a hot ticket item for someone wanting to add the storage compartment to their truck...just speculation

there is a guy in my area that has a 73-79 rust free bed from texas that he is selling, he's 2500.00 for it. i dont care how nice it is, IMO no bed is worth that much money.

I could get $500 pretty easily for that bed and parts. Other than the toolbox and the trim on it I don't see the reasoning behind parting and scrapping.

Bottom Line...what is your location? That determines what you should expect.
