As I reached the end of my hour long highway commute today, I gave my truck a little more gas to hold my speed up the hill to my exit and as I did the truck downshifted. As it downshifted, my tranny light on the dash came on and stayed on. I drove the mile or so from exit to my parking lot and here it sits. Drives fine, shifts fine, and doesn't smell. Need some advice if anyone's got any, it needs to be able to make that hour long drive home Thursday night. Is it okay to drive? Is there something I need to do? It's an 06 F-250 5.4. Thanks in advance to anyone who can provide any insight...
Update: tranny light off check engine light on. En route to twilight zone now. Also noticed something (looks like a small hose) that is hanging loosely in the engine bay above and to the passenger side of the motor. Will post a picture shortly.
Okay so I've got an emissions thing...really not sure what the deal was with the tranny. My codes are PO171 and PO174. Thinking I'll try to clean out the MAF and throttle body? Will have pic posted of the "loose hose" shortly. Thanks
So here's the photo, the thing I'm holding looks like it should go somewhere, but it doesn't. So that's it, those two codes and this issue here. Anything? Thanks
Vac line for the heater control valve. Plug it back into the nipple that is right above and between your thumb and the end of the hose in your picture.
That is sort of what I was thinking in terms of where it went. I'll pop it back in there and check the larger hose as well while I'm there. The roads I commute on aren't the best, so I'm sure the hose worked itself loose.
Thanks for all the help guys, it's much appreciated!
