Hi All,
Just a quick thanks to those who took both time and effort to give a bit of encouragement as well as advice to an Aussie cousin, jamming a big six 240/300 into a postal Jeep.
Yes Virginia, there MUST be a Santa Claus! IT DOES fit, albeit much surgery on firewall, front mounts, getting it to sit low enough and still get the bonnet on! And that's not to mention complaints about bad language emanating from workshop, barked knuckles, tools lost forever after being thrown in disgust. But, this is known as FUN!
These are one LONG engine (with attached NP435 tranny) to jam into a SWB DJ5D! Tailshaft must measure all of about 15 inches! Might have to use a double cardan type shaft? But, keeps me out of the waterhole!
