I have owned an 03 Excursion that I have had since last November that has started to feel like the steering is badly broken for a few hundred feet some times and then goes back to normal
It will do it some times after taking a corner and then suddenly there is a 1/4 turn play in the front and its wondering in the lane as I correct it back and forth and then it stops and goes back to normal.
Has this happened to any one else ever?
I've checked it and it all seems good and tight
the truck is stock height and has stock size wheels
Have a look at the track bar. One way to tell. Start the engine. From the drivers seat watch the hood as you turn the wheel a bit left to right. If the body moves the track bar is toast.
I think that could be it. The truck moved like a boat at sea
The F250 bar is a different diameter and will not work I was told
Okay put a new track bar in today and that was not the problem
I have a lot of squeaking noise and when a take an off ramp or similar curve the steering wheel shakes violently
need to eliminate everything ball joints, hubs etc... I see it has 317,000+ miles if you plan on keeping it a complete front end over haul might not be a bad idea

There is no movement in the front end. Two owners ago brought the truck to Canada from Texas and took excellent care of it but he died and his wife traded it in on a Kia and that's how I got it
I'm leaning towards wheel bearings at the moment from the metal on metal sounds
