New 99 7.3 owner here

Hey everyone, I have been lurking for a few weeks, but about 2 weeks ago I bought my 1st truck, a 1999 F250 7.3 6-speed 4x4 EC LB truck!! Has 179K on it. I drove my dad's 00 v6 5-speed 2wd dakota for a while, but it holds nothing to my F250! I bought it from Texas and had it shipped up here to Ohio because I wanted a rust-free truck, and that's exactly what I got! It needs some TLC, and I was hoping I could get some answers as too how/what I should do to fix it. Like my rear passenger door won't open (upper latch won't release), I have a ton of slop in the steering, power steering pump is bad/weak, bad ball joint, there is a loud clunk whenever I load the drivetrain (engage the clutch) and then suddenly release it, cruise control doesn't work, and I think that's it.

One question I have is that it appears my truck is a completely ODD mix of E99 and L99 parts. The build date is 06/1999, which is very much a L99, the 7.3 in this truck is 100% a L99, BUT, several things threw me off.

#1-I have side moldings that extend to the bed.

#2-My rear calipers are on the opposite sides, driver's side is towards the front, passenger side is towards the rear.

#3- IF I'm not mistaken, my front U-bolts are square, not round.

All of these things are what E99 trucks have, according to my research from several different sources online. If it was in the middle of the change-over I could understand, but in June of 99?!

Pictures!

Square U-bolts?

The carnage that was the driver's rear brake. The pad came out half way I guess. Not good. had to replace everything.

Welcome to the forum from another 99, 7.3 owner. We have plenty of information and great people to help with about anything so enjoy.

As a side note: if you have not already been asked at the parts store. Look at the door tag for the build date. you will need this information for some parts.
