up grade accelerator to cable

I have a 72 with a 390. I added an intake from a 65 T-bird to up grade to a 4 barrel. I'm using an Edelbrok 1460. So I like to get rid of the bent rod set up and go with a cable. I've seen the Lokar set up, but before I spring for it I wanted to know what you guys thought of it. Any other set ups/companies that provide a solution?

The rod linkage with the compensator is pretty good, but without that it does put your engine at risk. I lost a healthy 390 when the left side engine mount broke, pinning the throttle and overrevving it before I could get it shut down. Cables generally don't have this risk, but are not overly easy to retrofit to these trucks.
