tailgate adjusting question

i just put the new style torsion bar tailgate on my 06 and noticed it sits a little to the left and actually rubs the bed when open and close (noticed new chips on tail gate edge)
after looking at the original tail gate i noticed rubber inserts in both sides at the hinge cup on the gate

the new style gate only has the rubber insert on the passenger side

dealer says there are 4 different spacers available for the driver side 1,2,3, and 4 mm

anyone ever worked with these? dealer said they never sold one. there diagrams don't show much detail either

thanks

was there a photo intended to be included.

also interested in the shims. I added a shock strut to my tail gate to slow it down during opening and it rubs the cable....wondering if the shim might help move the tail gate more to the right so there's less chance of rubing?
