2008 Tailgate adjustment

Just wondering if any of you that have installed the 08 style tailgate on your truck had to adjust anything. I installed my 08 tailgate yesterday and it looks like the tailgate needs to come to the passenger side. Its almost hitting the bed on the drivers side and has a bigger gap on the drivers side. I was thinking about trying to put a shim behind the hinge you replace on the drivers side hopefully shifting the tailgate over to the passenger side.

You have to change out bracket on drivers side and make sure rubber grommets are in the new tailgate

Okay im sure I have those. The tailgate is on my truck and opens and closes fine. Its just sitting like 1/16 or 1/8" closer to the drivers then the passengers side. Its almost touching the bed/tailight on the drivers side and its got a big gap on the passenger side. Ive got some 1/8" body shims that im gonna put behind the bracket on the drivers side and see if it centers the tailgate up better. I did some searching today and found where one other guy had to do the same.
