Is it possible to replace just the glass mirror on these housings? Rather than the whole assembly? I see them listed at parts stores on line.
If so . . . guide me!

My driver side mirror got smacked off by a rental RV headed the other way. Which is pretty lucky. Got a new flat mirror cut and installed at a glass shop in Moab for $40. RTV onto the mirror head and go. Later I got a new assembly since I missed the convex part.
I think ford sells just the mirror insert. Be ready with some cash though. They arent cheap- Not sure about the internet replacements. What side are you after - pass. or driver ? Large upper glass or small lower ? Sometimes folks on here have a spare one sitting in the garage.
The mirror can be cut if you know how to do it. But after it's cut you will also have to sand down the edges with emry cloth to round out and smooth the edges.
The glass can be replaced on it's own. Rock Auto has it for about $31 per side manual adjust or $81 per side power, both non-heated.
Remove the outer shell by pressing the 4 tabs holding it, which are behind the glass. You can get to them by moving the glass all the way to one side or the other. Do them one at a time while prying on the shell with a plastic putty knife or something else non-marring. Remove the nut on the center pivot, and the glass will pull off. If you decide to go this route and need pictures, I can probably take some tomorrow and post them.
I've replaced the driver passenger side on mine when the mirror got smacked and broke the glass. Plastic housing was still fine. The broken glass made it easy to remove since it was gone anyway.
Seems like the replacement glass came with instructions about using a heat gun or hair dryer to heat up the housing before snapping the new glass into place. Pretty easy process overall.
I have a spare on my other two replacement doors. I know one mirror is broken, not sure which side but I'll look tomorrow and if it's the passenger door mirror that's good it's yours if you want it. What style mirrors do you have?
I have a set of perfectly good tow mirrors off my 99 sitting in my garage if someone needs them. They are telescoping /folding, power adjustment mirrors. No heat. No signal /parking lights. I upgrades to the 2008 style.
Just replaced my pass side. The new mirror from Ford comes with instructions, the center of the mirror is held on by two ***** type cups. I used a heat gun to warm up the plastic like the instruction said and it popped on easy.
