2011 Escape EPAS issue
A couple of days ago, I noticed that when I turned a corner on my way to work, the steering didn't return to center as it normally does. I have also now noticesd that while I still have power steering, it does react differently. Not moving, the wheel moves as it normally would, but when driving, if I turn the wheel even to change lanes, it is a little stiffer to straiten out.
I am now familiar with all the issues with complete failure of the EPAS, but that has not happened in my case. From what I gather it is likely the torque sensor that is causing the issue in my case. I have found that I can get a replacement sensor at RockAuto, but I have also read that it needs to be calibrated by the dealer.
Has anyone else had this issue?
Has anyone here tried to replace the sensor themselves.
I have dropped steering wheel before on my 150 and suspect I could do the job, but if it is needing to be calibrated, perhaps I am better off just bringing it to the dealer.
Anyone have any info or advice?
Hi ottawaguy,
Have you contacted your dealer regarding this issue? I recommend making an appointment at your convenience as they are in the best position to assist. Please pass on the current odometer reading of your vehicle; I will browse the available options.

My mileage is only 82,000 kilometers...or about 51,000 miles which seems a little soon from what I read, but none the less, I have the issue.
Thanks for your time!
