Very true. Question is how much power would it bring might not even be worth it. I personally don't know of anybody whom has attempted it or has a supercharger on their V10.
To bring more power to the V10 or coming up with ides like JR said then I would go down to the V10 part of the forum and ask as I personally haven't seen anything for it.

And they did make a centrifugal supercharger for the v10 a while ago. As hard to find one or harder to find than a efi 460 one though.
As far as it being worth it... Of course it is. An m112 from a lightning is good for 500hp or so, that's plenty fun. I'd probably do a turbo anyway though. V10 headers suck and manifolds are crappy. I kill 3 birds with one stone with a turbo. Availability of turbo, get rid of crappy manifolds, and don't need to change the intake.
"You aren't saving much weight from a 460, the trans is heavier (compared to zf5)..."
When V-10s first came out they came with ZF 5-speeds, so no advantage there, yes they came out with 6-speed manuals from 01+ but it was still optional in 01 IIRC. And both the 460 and V-10 came with a 4-speed auto: E4OD for 460 and similar but improved 4R100 for the V-10, same weight on trannies and same gear ratios.
Yup... I know....
I have had one of each of what you've listed. I currently still have,
02 f350 v10 4x4 auto 4r100
99 f450 v10 4x4 zf5
95 f250 efi460 4x4 auto e4od
87 f250 carb460 4x4 zf5
I've helped put a zf6 into a psd truck, I gotta say, it's freakin huge. Very tall. The zf5 was easier.
I would never be worried about weight. The darn psd weighs like 1200 pounds... Maybe like 1000. But our trucks handle that just fine. Stop crying about weight.
I have installed a couple superchargers on the 2V V10s. it made a night and day difference, I could only imagine on a 3V. The 3V(05+) engines were 365 hp stock while the 2v motor were GUTTLESS
Anything can be done... but I know the 2 valves drank like a big block and I never really was impressed by them, but as our truck age and new vehicles become more complex with wiring and gauge clusters being tied in with eec etc. The 3V modulars well as far as the 5.4 I don't mind them they run they make torque a swap into a older truck with a 6.8. I don't see the point, I have done enough cam phasers in them I wouldn't want to. I like the idea for different off the wall ways, that is why I am building a trick flow headed efi etc 400 for my 96. I hate to say it though the other camps engines would be a much easier swap LS compact light strong and they run hard, my windsor will play with the 99-04 anything newer they are just toying with me. Sad when a 05 2wd 5.3 chebby will out run a challenger r/t.
My 2 cents Kasse boss-9 heads a 10:1 full roller 460 efi long tubes and let her eat, if your looking for a toy.

I was waiting to see something about drinking gas. 75% of all V10 threads I see somebody brings up about poor fuel mileage. I don't get why my V10 doesn't get that bad of fuel mileage with the upgrades it has and the weight of a crew cab short bed with 800lb tool box 4 guys and the 4R100 trans.
I had no idea their was a 5 spd V10 especially a ZF5.

The fuel mileage factor can come down to simple different tune on the EEC.
The other F4TE windsor block in the garage came from a 96 E250 (good friend of mine) one of his old company service vans had 2 identical same gear ratios options all everything one van got(he claims) 18mpg other 13mpg, the one that was better on fuel would if you asked it to blow the tires off and run like a hot rod while the other was a slouch and drank it down.
It can also be weird just that engine gets that mileage good friend of mine that taught me about building harnesses. I remember him telling me about a 96 351 bronco that was his neighbors guy claimed 20mpg highway he didn't believe it. Went with him from Taylor, MI to Columbus, OH 2 separate times seen the proof then swapped EEC from a known fuel sucker truck got the same both times.
It most of the times amounts to your driving style, tune up parts, etc. today I went for a ride to help a friend out 35 miles 1 way cruise set doing 60 in a 04 2500HD xcab long bed 4x4 gmc averaged 16.2mpg with a 8.1L BBC.
i always toyed with the idea of dropping a V-10 with a 5 or 6 speed in one of the parts falcons i had laying around back when i had 13 falcons at the body shop. but i resisted the urge to do something really really stupid like that that most likely would have gotten me in trouble.
The 5.4 would be easier in every way possible and then you have the whole lightning aftermarket. From something I read in the past, the 5.4 mounts in the same places as a 4.9 so that simplifies things. Wiring would be the hardest part.
