battery relocation

I am looking for ideas on where to relocate the battery on my 49 F-1 with a 5.0. It does't fit back on the frame rail because it sits to close to the valve cover. I can't mount it on the firewall because of wiring and heater & AC hoses. I looked under the cab around the passenger seat but I would have to cut out the bottom rail of the frame. Can anyone send me pics of where they but their battery? Or any ideas you may have
Thanks

This is where I located the battery on my 49. It worked because I used an exhaust X. If you don't use the stock fuel tank, it goes readily on the floor behind the seat. I kept the stock tank.

I put mine the same spot that Bill did. Thought is was good until I put the cab and running boards on. Now it tough to get to without putting the truck on the lift. I ran a pigtail out to the running board to plug in a trickle charger. Hopefully the battery will last a couple of years before I have to change it.

Chuck, Is yours a drop box? To get mine out, I drop it down to the lower notch, disconnect the + and - and then the box with the battery in it can be dropped to the ground. Not something that you would want to do regularly but reasonable. I put a + post in the engine bay for either jump starting or charging.
Off topic, I have a good friend that also lives in Prescott. He checked out a lot of areas before deciding on Prescott over 10 years ago.

Bill, mine is in a drop down box just like your's except I used a side post Optima red top. I can get to the starter solenoid if I have to jump it, not easy but doable. I don't like the battery down there but if I was to do it again would probably put it in the same spot.

We love Prescott, just a great place to retire.

Hey Tom,
We've got a '50 F1 with a 351W in it & had to relocate the battery out of the engine compartment - especially after we put in A/C.. We've relocated the gas tank back out back under the bed so we had some room behind the seat. We went with a smaller marine style battery.

I put mine on the running board, for easy access as you can see. I may eventually put in a drop box, and either use the aluminum box for a tool box, or a secondary battery for use with a 110volt converter.

Mine is behind the passenger seat. I built a heavy steel box with a plexiglass cover. Used rubber geomets where the cables come through the sides. I thought about making a box under on of the front fenders, there is a lot of room there.
