Ats site shows a kit 2 springs 6 eye/ shackle bolts 4 u bolts and 2 shackles for 335 bucks
Yeah, But their (and other aftermarket shops) version of X codes isn't the same spec as a set of Ford X codes. Ford X codes are rated at 6,000lbs per set, most aftermarket "X codes" are a little less, some are actually closer to the Ford V codes spec of 5,200 lbs. I know that JR at ATS does offer a custom set that actually is rated higher than real X codes. All things to keep in mind while shopping for springs.

This applies to all aftermarket spring company point of sales.
That's why people have GOT to do their homework and read the information I've compiled through all the post and threads made here by all the guys who have done spring mods.
We have an incredibly smart bunch of guys here who, as a collective, have done just about every spring mod iteration a person can think of and in my opinion, is the best place to get advice for suspension mods on Excursions.
The biggest thing to remember is, the ONLY place a person can get an X code, V code, W code, B code or ANY Ford designated alpha code spring is FROM FORD AND ONLY FORD!!
Aftermarket spring companies sell their springs and they can claim they match something in a spring book that supposedly is the same spec as a Ford spring, but they are not a Ford spring.
Now, that is NOT to say aftermarket springs are inferior. Far from it. Places like supporting vendor ATS Springs are a GREAT alternative to buying a Ford spring, based on the price, you just gotta make sure you're ok with the spec on the springs you're buying.
I wouldn't hesitate to buy from Jr at ATS, but I'd make sure I knew what I was getting.

Hey guys! The weight ratings of Ford's springs is something people bring up to us all the time. All our leaf springs, not just including Ford Springs, are all made to be a direct replacement to OEM. They all go through the same process that the Ford stock ones go through when being made.
Every spring has the same thickness, length, arch, bushing... and the list goes on. These springs all go through the same process of heat treatment, tempering and shot peening; just like Ford. I can honestly say I have no idea why Ford has their ratings higher than what everyone else in this industry has. To me it does not make sense.
All the springs we carry are from manufacturers that are ISO certified and are also members of SRI. There is a standard that needs to be met to have these certifications and membership. It is hard for me to wrap my head around the fact that Ford inflates their numbers like they do (I'm not being rude I truly don't understand why or how they have those ratings)
If someone has a link to why this may be the case, whether it may be that Ford is taking everything into consideration, (Springs, Shocks etc.) or whatever the case may be send it my way! I am 4th generation in the Spring business and I love learning something new every day!

I'm glad you jumped in with this info. I would like to know also why ford and aftermarket springs are so different in weight ratings but go through the same manufacturing specs.
It's always appreciated when supporting vendors actively participate!
Junior, where do you guys ship from? Where is ATS located?
Stewart
Thanks Stewart! Always looking to help out and give as much info as I can. We are located in Souderton, PA a little outside of Philadelphia and that's where we ship out from also.

Your response to this thread just convinced me to order springs from you. I'll be placing my order Wednesday.
