On the way home last night smelled antifreeze, pulled in driveway popped hood and everything was soaked from fan sling.
Today I get the air line, add pressure thru the drain hose port and see this
My 1st time changing it so not sure about age or brand
Ordered replacement parts tonight, If there are breaks in the rain I'll start taking apart tomorrow.
Will post a pic of the inside when removed
The Ford pump has a weep hole for failure, but I thought it was on the bottom. I could be wrong about the location, but mine was weeping when it failed.

That looks like it is coming out of a perfectly round hole, hard to tell for sure. If it is, it is a machined weep hole to let you know when the bearing wears out. They just must have done it in a different location on some.
It was eaten thru, maybe part casting flaw too as the corrosion area wasnt that deep?
I've done nothing with the coolant (well until now )
I've had this vehicle not even a year and havent put enough miles for a 2nd oil change.
Not disappointed so far, consider this routine with a 12yr old
Given the locations it looks like casting flaws. The rest of it looks almost new. Is the impeller stainless? Do me a favor and take a pic of the front so I know what brand to avoid.
Edit: and as Pop mentioned get yourself some test strips and check some of your old coolant. Cavitation caused by not maintaining SCAs can do that to the inside of your motor, way bad juju. Was the coolant green or gold?
I had to LOL when I seen the brand, everybody swears by them (joking)
The outside is much more eroded than the inside, 3x as much.
Looks like an exit wound or the top of a volcano... Thats it above the bolt hole
Coolant was green, is worth testing the old coolant?
Is there anything I could do other than flush and properly fill? (naturally doing that anyway)
Thanks!
