Tail pipe

Brakes are done, engine is running like a champ, body is done, windows are in and am down to the last few items and I need some help. This is 1948 F5 with 1950 I6 engine and my basic question is on the tail pipe. Does it drop down with a 90 after the muffler or does it have a long tail pipe to back of the frame? Does it matter? Also, is the muffler placed under the cab or behind?

Congrats on the progress. The F1s had the muffler just beyond the cab and the tail pipe past the wheel. I'm sure the big 'uns had shorter tail pipes.
