I have a 93 150. I replaced the tires 31x10.50, Put a reman steering box,new Moog ball joints, Moog tie rod ends, Moog drag link, Moog radius arm bushings. and a front end alignment. Because it wandered and drove generally not good. After all that I feel like it wanders worse. I put about 3/4 turn into the new steering bo it helped a little) It was down right scary towing my trailer Saturday. What am I missing I'm thinking about a steering stabilizer, new front shocks and sway bar bushings next. Need some stability in this thing. Thanks
Shocks and sway bar bushings aren't going to help with the wandering at all. A steering stabilizer might help but you're really just slapping a band-aid on the problem instead of fixing it. These trucks steer really good when everything is new and tight so there's no reason you shouldn't be able to get it back to that point.
It sounds like you replaced most of the stuff that normally causes it to wander. Did you do the work yourself or take it to a shop?
I had a alignment shop set the toe. Im not convinced its not at 0. I will look at the sheet tonight. I'm gonna string and check myself with toe plates also. Thanks I was searching for a toe number. I will try 3/16 . That's kind of the feeling I get now that it has been brought up. There is definitely play in the steering that's why I keep going back to the steering box seeing a have taken the play out of everything else with new parts. If I have to buy a RedHead box I will but I want to make sure that's it first. Thanks for your help.
