I had read somewhere that you can buy 02 sensor foolers. Supposedly they trick your engine into thinking there is cats there! I want to dump them things so bad, b/c its like having 4 extra mufflers!! And im against any sort of muffler to begin with! I don't want my engine to run crappy like everyone tells me it would with no cats, so i was just wondering about these "foolers"??? Thanks any info is appreciated!
it depends on what year truck you have, i had a 94 and i cut my cats off and it improved perfromance, they newer ones is harder to do. As far as censor foolers i have heard of people who can over ride computer systems and what not (not to big on computers) to get them to act as if a cat was there.
I've got them -they work!! I've also got them on my 2000 Trans Am as well.
I bought them from the performance shop at the local dealership, but I wouldn't call your typical Ford Dealership and ask them -seeing that it is technically illegal.
The foolers are ONLY usable on 96 up trucks with OBD-II which have a third O2 sensor downstream of the cats to monitor cat function. You have to keep the O2 sensors in front of the cats connected or your EFI won't work correctly.
I’m planning to redo the exhaust from the Y-pipe back. Here in Canada, the cat converter is not a requirement and as a result I would like to get rid of it. However, there is an O2 sensor after the cat.
What have you others done to “fool” the computer in believing that the cat is functioning properly???
The O2 sensor is my biggest concern, however, outside of bigger pipes (2 ¼ - 2 ½) and single in/duel out performance muffler…any other suggestions???
Thanks for all replies.
