Have a new to me 2005 expedition and am noticing something odd - trying to figure out if it's the transmission or possibly something else:
When accelerating without changing throttle position, the rpms stay pretty much constant, and the car shifts at what seems to be low speeds - 10 mph, 20, 35-ish (it's really hard to tell it's shifting actually). It almost acts like a CVT, except for the little shifting "bumps". No other strange symptoms that I can tell.
Don't make yourself a problem that might not be there. If its shifting and going into overdrive and your fuel mileage is between 15 and 19 ur good. This is my opinion only.......take it to ford to replace the tranny when it is time. These tranny shops were a good thing in the 70s and 80s. They were always half the price of the dealers. Now days they charge more than the dealers do for a rebuilt trans than a reman from the dealer. Beware.... some dealers won't work on a vehicle if its 8 to 10 years old and will sub the work out to the trans shop and then add their mark up and then neither one wants to stand behind the work. Ask if the work will be done in house and a ford reman used. I hope you don't need to that.
