I have 05 e250 with 6.0 and bought to use for traveling road trips.I dont or wont hardly haul anything.I had a new tranny put in at dealer when I bought it since this is how I got the van a little cheaper.Long story short since I have the new tranny in it acts the same way as before the new tranny, which is seams like it was slipping and would take forever to shift from gear to gear especially the higher gears, but better when it warms up,not always.I took to dealer 2 times now since and first time they said it was probably still relearning ect....So I was ok with that since Iam aware of it but just though after several 500mile trips it would have learned by now.So the second time most recently I took it in and they say I have 2 bad injectors and my turbo is sticking and this was causing it.Just wondering what all you guys think, because it runs great with no power issues ect and still get 16mpg at 80 mph.I know injectors can be going out and not feel or know but why would this/or turbo have anything to do with tranny issues I have unless it falls on its face.
If the trans works warmed up, but shifts at high RPM when cold the problem is the engine. The trans shifts mostly based on go pedal position and vehicle speed. If you need to press the go pedal further down to get the same performance then it will make the trans shift late. What they are telling you about the engine causing this is correct.
And the trans NEVER learns a different speed to shift. NEVER. The dealer doesn't understand what the trans does learn, so they made that up.
The trans ONLY learns how much pressure adjustment to use from one shift to the next. This will only affect how firm/soft the shift has, it never changes when the shift happens. It also does not learn anyone's driving style, so don't let anyone tell you that lie.
Exactly what I think also, and I was a tech before but this makes no sense to me,even though didnt do much with the powerstrokes. It does SEEM better sum times warm but not always. As a use to be tech doesnt seem or positive not in limp mode and/or runs great.I myself have found many misses in strokers before that no else found or suposed test showed nothing wrong with them, until there were out.I guess all in all I myself have never seen a vehicle have this or seen this without or hardly and drivability problems. As far as injector oring causing erratic shifts?I would think if it runs bad enough sure but doesnt take any more/different throttle(peddel effort) then then normal to me or doesnt change when warm. And yes Ive owned and drove them all(strokers).I guess I should point out also that its my best friends vehicle not mine,if you wondering, thought I would help the guy out since I convinced him to buy.Feel bad now.
I forgot to mention that it acts alot like my 7.3(4R100) does when you let up on the throttle then ez into,it shifts most of time, but seems better again when warm but not all the time. And if I had more time or I should say if he was closer to me I would do more of the diagnosing myself, but just going of what he said and drove with hime once.As far as dealer goes....who knows if they are checking all, sensors, pressures, ect....
