So I replaced my timing set, water pump and fuel pump. It had a double wide on it and the replacement I got was single wide. Didn't realize when ordering the parts there was double and single. The work was pretty straight forward and I thought I did a good job but now I've got some rattly clacky noise. Thought it was a rocker or something at first but I used a mechanics stethoscope and the noise is loudest when on the timing cover. No noticeable noise at idle. And it's not a nice even tempo clack. It's a messy rattly clack most evident when revving. No clue what it could be. Hmmmm.
Possibly remove all belts and start the truck for a few seconds to see if the noise is still there. That will eliminate any external moving parts being the culprit. What timing set did you end up going with?
I had a situation close to that with a Napa fuel pump. I think it's the cheesey way the fuel pump arm's pivot axle is crimped in the fuel pump's housing. Mine didn't last long. This was about a year ago when 2 or 3 other fTE'rs had trouble with Napa pumps.

Easy enough to pull the fuel pump. I have the original one.
