initial starting issues when cold

Hi guys,

Need a little help. 2005 6.0 and the truck has been progressively getting harder to start lately. No stumble at start up but excessive cranking is also begin to lengthen for the truck to start.

Does it sound like a HPOP problem to you guys or FICM problem. No codes at all. The truck belongs to a friend but I don't know any other specifics. Any diagnostic ideas are welcome

Thanks

Can you get your SGII over on his truck and check it on cold start?

If I was guessing (I think I am): FICM would be the first one... But then how are the Batts and Alt?

So many things, so few friends...

2nd the FICM and then possible HPOP problems. Try parking nose up and then nose down and see if it helps the starting. Need to know FICM voltage during cold starting and ICP and IPR too.

Good point as well -- so how are his hot starts? W/ the '05+ HPO system I'd start looking for things like STC and the like...

Thank you guys. He just had the STC's updated and the FICM replaced a few years ago. I have to see what I can do about getting some of the info. My SGII is permanently (or close to it) mounted in my dash.

Hi Benny,

Been gone a while doing dad $h*t and well you know. I see you're racking up the rep points my brother....you deserve it man, you know your stuff.

Regarding the fire department....YEP, still there.....I will be there for life (or until I get too old and they say GTFO!)
