Wiley79: I came across these videos on Youtube and am posting them for you to compare. Please let us know what your problem was and your fix. Check the blow-by and the exhaust smoke in the second one and the cause in the third.
I am not sure about the idea of doing an in-truck engine rebuild, but I like the guy's resourcefulness alot. Especially his idea of replacing just the bad piston. If you look at the rest of his videos on his Project powerstroke YouTube playlist, it looks like it turned out fine:
