RABS

Where is the RABS valve located on a 88 F150 SB 5.8L. Think i have found the valve but cant locate wire harness??

RABS

The RABS sensor is located on the top of the rear axel housing.
Very easy to identify, it’s held in to the housing by one bolt.

Isn't that the VSS? And if so, does it provide info for both the ABS system and the speedo?

Yes, that sensor on the rear axle is actually the VSS, or Vehicle Speed Sensor. Both the PCM and RABS computers use the signal information from that sensor. There should be a RABS valve on the driver's side frame rail, around the firewall area. It should have about 5 wires connected to it.

Oh, and rabidranger, the speedo gets it's info from the speedometer drive gear assembly, the VSS is used for speed control signals.

Where is the speedometer drive gear assembly? I don't see one coming out of the t-case...

My mistake, if you have a solid state speedometer, then you're vehicle speed is taken from the rear differential speed sensor. If you have a mechanical speedometer, your speedo is driven from a cable connected to the transfer case tail housing.
