I'm stuck someplace with horrendous wi-fi, and I've been trying out a Nexus 7. Supposed to be a pretty good Android tablet.
At any rate, it seems to have a tougher time with the poor signal than my ancient XP laptop does. I've set it not to predict network performance, but it still gives up fairly frequently. Today, I can't even seem to download the fte mobil app (< 2Mb!).
I know this thread is one month old, but hard to say about your issue. I have a Nexus 7 which I love, and my work offers free wi-fi., which works awesome inside the building. Yet, twenty feet outside, coverage is spotty at best. Also, there are two actual 'networks'. I believe that is the actual term (hard to keep up with technology). I know signal strength on one Wi-Fi 'band' is strong, but the other (according to my tablet), is weak at best. Naturally, I choose the stronger one, and while inside the building, I'm fine. It almost defeats my purpose of bringing the tablet to work because I work afternoons and miss the MLB broadcastings of the baseball games. I was hoping to eat lunch in my truck and surf the web, but I can't with the poor outside Wi-Fi connection. On a side-note, cell phone reception is also spotty. Makes no sense that in our parking lot even, placing a call is difficult, yet twenty feet away a major interstate is located and naturally, drivers can get a strong signal. I hope this helps, and good luck.
I have a Samsung 4 g tablet. It does great most everywhere
Every once in a while it acts up, all I do is shut it down, and start it back up, and it's back to normal. You may want to try that.
