Hopefully someone else can chime in here for you, but I helped with a restoration couple years ago and it definitely looks like you need to move it forward. Sorry I don't have any pictures for you but maybe Google could help you out.
Tolerances back in the day was like using Kentucky windage but that's a little wide IMO. It's gonna be a compromise either way.
I looked at the other photos in your album and the vertical fender to door gap looks okay. I'd move the hood forward to increase the hood to cowl gap and aim to mimic the vertical fender to door gap. The back of the hood should come up to match the horizontal line cowl to fender gap.
Evening pics... If they don't work let me know, I can head out tomorrow and get specific shots and or shots with a steel ruler in places that you are questioning..
Cant really make out those pictures. Can you guys post more in the day? I parked my 78 next to my 79 and the 79 looks off too. It kind of looks like my 78 hood is to short. My buddy restored a 76 and his is flush with the grill. Are 73 to 79 hoods different sizes? Im in the process of restoring the 78. But have a few things to fix or do before I strip it down.
